In this trial the 38 new varieties obtained in the first stage of the Genetic Improvement Programme are evaluated and compared with an international selection of 19 varieties.

In order for the results to be as reliable and significant as possible, we designed a trial comprising 9 blocks. Each of them include complete rows of the 38 new varieties and a selection of traditional varieties with which they are compared.
